Samurai Jack, Aardman, Kricfalusi: it’s Annecy, what else?

With the Masterclasses, Keynote speeches, Making of and WIP Feature sessions as well as the new category of WIP TV, the Annecy Festival’s Meetings will be full of highly anticipated events.

New in 2016: WIP TV
For the first time, the Annecy Festival invites you to discover Work in Progress sessions dedicated to animated TV series!

The first TV series on the programme is American.We’ll be giving you a sneak peek of the latest Genndy Tartakovsky creation: Samurai Jack! Samurai Jack is an animated American series created by Genndy Tartakovsky. After a ten-year hiatus, the director is back at the helm of Cartoon Network’s cult series so that Jack can resolve his unfinished business with the evil Aku. Other series to be revealed soon!

WIP Feature sessions
The traditional WIP Feature sessions, created in 2007 and dedicated to feature films that are still in production, will let you in on the early stages of making:

trolls

  • Trolls: set for release in October 2016, this feature film from the creators of Shrek, Madagascar and Kung Fu Panda tells the story of those famous little dolls with fluorescent hair. Some first footage will be revealed from Trolls, the next feature from DreamWorks, inspired by the trendy dolls with fluorescent hair created in Denmark by Thomas Dam in 1959.

  • Zombillenium: Arthur de Pins is at the origin of this dark comedy about an amusement park, Zombillenium, that doesn’t just hire anyone: mere mortals need not apply! Music, graphic style, first footage… a sneak peek at of all this at Annecy!
  • Japan will be in the house with In the Corner of this Little World, as well as Korea with The Shaman Sorceress.

Keynote speeches
The Keynote speeches are special moments to with the biggest names in animation. Coming this year:
