“La pubblicazione che presentiamo qui può essere considerata alla stregua di un invito a riflettere su un’affascinante e potente fenomeno, cioè sulla capacità dei film d’animazione di essere subordinati a vari dogmi ideologici, e a punti di vista unilaterali ed esclusivi derivanti da dottrine politiche differenti, anche tra le più crudeli. Gli autori di quest’opera collettivasi interrogano sull’industria cinematografica animata che riflette esigenze ideologiche stabilite in tempi e contesti culturali diversi, ma gli studiosi, gli attivisti e i cineasti sono anche interessati ad esaminare le modalità e le maniere in cui l’Animazione può ribellarsi contro la tossicità sociale e realtà politica. Questo atteggiamento può essere ritrovato più esplicitamente nel manifesto di Theodore Ushev “Animazione come arma”

This is the book result of 2017 Krakow conference (23-24/11/2017) Twisted Dreams of History. V4 Perspective on Propaganda, Ideology and Animation (full programme here). The publication was published in co-operation with Fuundacja Promocji Kultury Artystycznej, Filmowej and Etiuda&Anima Festival. Olga Bobrowska, Michał Bobrowski and Bogusław Zmudziński served as conference organizers and book editors, while the whole project was supported by the International Visegrad Fund – Project.
