www.afnews.info segnala: Tove Jansson (9 August 1914 – 27 June 2001, Finland) was a Swedish-speaking novelist, painter, illustrator, and comics creator.
She is best known for the “Moomin” books and comic strip. She wrote and illustrated the first book in 1945, during World War II. She said later that the war had depressed her and she had wanted to write something naïve and innocent.
She went on to write six more “Moomin” books, a number of picture books, and comic strips. She became became Finland’s most widely-read author abroad.
In 1966, Jansson received the international Hans Christian Andersen Award for her “lasting contribution to children’s literature”.
