Durante il Festival di Angoulême Claude Mirande espone alla libreria Privat una serie delle sue immagini che rappresentano un Tintin diventato adulto e messo a confronto con l'altro sesso. Gli abbiamo chiesto cosa lo spinge a rivelare questo "lato oscuro" di Tintin, ovviamente mai accennato da Hergé. "Sono cresciuto in una famiglia in cui il sesso era tabù, e leggevo gli albi di Tintin in cui le donne e il sesso erano altrettanto banditi. Con queste immagini voglio riportare Tintin ad una normalità che nelle sue avventure gli è stata negata. Sono scene che mi servono per riequilibrare il mondo di Tintin, ma anche per superare i miei propri tabù che mi porto dall'infanzia. Lo faccio senza rancore nei confronti di Hergé e senza spingermi all'eccesso, come hanno fatto altri che hanno portato Tintin al limite del pornografico; il mio Tintin guarda le donne, ma in modo pudico e imbarazzato, senza osare un approccio, e tuttavia ben consapevole del loro fascino. Anche le donne a loro volta sono ben consapevoli del loro fascino, e fanno di tutto per esprimerlo. Le mie immagini conservano il nitore e la solarità di Hergé, semplicemente introducendo con discrezione l'elemento donna, cercando di suggerire come sarebbe stato Tintin da adulto." Gli abbiamo anche chiesto come distribuisce le sue opere: "Ho provato ad affidarmi alla distribuzione professionale, ma mi hanno mentito sulle tirature e non mi hanno restituito gli originali. Quindi ora faccio tutto da me, anche se questo comporta molte difficoltà". AFnews augura grande successo a questo finissimo artista che resta in gran parte da scoprire.
During the Festival at Angoulême Claude Mirande exhibits some of his images showing a grown-up Tintin confronted with the other sex. We asked him what moves him to reveal this "dark side" of Tintin, obviously never hinted at by Hergé. "I was brought up in a family in which sex was taboo, and I read the stories of Tintin in which women and sex were equally banned. With these images I want to bring Tintin back to a normality that was always denied to him. These scenes bring a balance in Tintin's world, but they are also a way to overcome my personal taboos that haunt me from my childhood. I do this without resentment against Hergé, and I do it discreetly, without any excesses, like some people have done bringing Tintin on the verge of pornography. My Tintin looks at women, but in a slightly embarassed way, without daring an approach, and yet fully aware of their charm. The women are equally conscious of their fascination, and do all they can to show it. My images preserve the neatness and solar mood of Hergé, they just discreetly introduce the female element, they suggest how Tintin might have been as an adult." We also asked him how he distributes his work: "I have tried entrusting it to professional distributors, but I was disappointed; they lied to me on the numbers and I never received back some of the originals. Now I do everything by myself, even though this adds a lot of difficulties." AFnews wishes every success to this fine artist, who deserves much more recognition.
