Excerpts from an oral history interview with cartoonist Morrie Turner (1923–2014), creator of “Wee Pals”—the first American syndicated comic strip with an integrated cast of characters. Morrie was a friend of Charles M. Schulz and even paid tribute to “Peanuts” in some of his own “Wee Pals” comic strips. Here, Turner discusses Schulz’s influence on his work and shares his experience as a Black cartoonist. Recorded on August 7, 2010. © Charles M.
