Posticipati i Quirino Awards: l’edizione 2020 si terrà on line

QUIRINO AWARDS’ THIRD EDITION IS POSTPONED AND IT WILL BE CELEBRATED ONLINE SOON IN 2020

The new dates of the digital event that will maintain the co-production and business forum and the awards ceremony among other activities will be announced shortly

The third edition of the Ibero-American Animation Quirino Awards will not be held in person due to the state of alarm by the COVID-19 virus. The organization is working on an online edition and this change has already been notified to Turismo de Tenerife, main sponsor of the event.

This digital edition is being planned to maintain the same objectives of paying tribute to Ibero-American talent and creativity. In addition, it will enhance the co-production and business forum by making a digital version, supporting the economic development of the sector through online meetings so that the animation industry continues to produce and evolve despite the current situation.

On the other hand, this digital version will be an impulse of the industry for sustainability and for the generation of greener practices. Something that we had already worked for this edition and in which we will continue working for future editions.

The date of the awards ceremony where the winners will be announced will be confirmed later. Details of this new online edition will be communicated to all participants shortly.

The organization of the Quirino Awards appreciates all the expressions of support received in recent weeks and the understanding of all the participants, collaborators and sponsors of the event.

About the Quirino Awards
The awards are named after the creator of the first animated feature film in history, the Italian-Argentine Quirino Cristiani, who in 1917 directed “The Apostle”; an Argentine production in which 58,000 drawings made by hand and shot in 35 mm were used, in addition to several models representing public buildings and the streets of the city of Buenos Aires.

The Quirino Awards, which have the main sponsorship of the Cabildo de Tenerife through the Tenerife Film Commission, reflect the determined commitment that has been made for years to animation on the island. This commitment also materializes in concrete actions to support the blooming local industry, assistance to major international markets and the promotion of the “Tenerife Isla Cartoon” brand, specific to this sector.

The initiative also has the sponsorship of ICEX Spain Export and Investments, City Council of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, PROEXCA, Canary Islands Film, TEA y HP; the collaboration of ICAA, CAACI, Ibermedia Program, Acción Cultural Española, Embassy of Brazil, Embassy of Portugal, Tangram Solutions, Welaw, Casa de América, Auditorium of Tenerife, University of La Laguna and RTVE; and the support of DIBOOS, SAVE, Pixelatl, Weird, Ventana Sur Animation!, La Liga de la Animación Iberoamericana (the Ibero-American Animation League), Tenerife Moda, Clúster Audiovisual Canario and Annecy Festival, as well as the associations: APA – Association of Animation Producers of Cordoba Argentina; ANIMAR CLUSTER – Argentine Animation Cluster & VFX; ABCA – Associação Brasileira de Cinema de Animação; Animachi Chile; GEMA Colombia – Animation Entrepreneurs Group; Guild of Animators of Ecuador; ACDMX – Association of Digital Creatives of Mexico; Peru Animation and Casa da Animaçao of Portugal.
