Nessuno si illuda che i diritti civili si possano conquistare una volta per tutte. Vanno conservati con cura e possibilmente incrementati. Lo strumento principe per la conquista duratura di questi diritti umani è la nonviolenza, il che rende la lotta ancora più ardua, se possibile. Per cui è bene parlarne, ricordarne le tecniche, sapere quali sacrifici comporta, passare il testimone di generazione in generazione.
