Special Event: Raina Telgemeier at the Cartoon Art Museum: A Will Eisner Week CelebrationJoin Raina as she discusses her retrospective exhibition at the Cartoon Art Museum and for a Q&A session with attendees. Afterward Raina will be available to chat with fans, pose for photographs, and answer questions about her exhibition and her comics!Pre-signed copies of Raina’s books, including Smile, Drama, Sisters, Ghosts, and The Baby-sitters Club will be available for purchase in advance at the Cartoon Art Museum on March 10. (Please note that Raina will not be signing or personalizing books during the event.)

Celebrate Will Eisner Week
Now until March 7th the Cartoon Art Museum challenges you to Read A Graphic Novel! Come by the museum and explore our reading room filled with graphic novels from our current exhibits. Make sure to tag us on social media and tell us what your reading!
Will Eisner Week is an annual celebration honoring the legacy of Will Eisner, champion of the graphic novel. This international event is dedicated to promoting literacy, free speech, and the sequential arts.
Will Eisner (March 6, 1917 – Jan. 3, 2005) was a one-of-a-kind genius, that rare figure of whom it can be said, comics and graphic novels, as we know them today, would not exist without him. He was one of the pioneers to lead the American comic book industry, proving himself a master of a variety of artistic and literary styles. His landmark comic series The Spirit (1940–1952) was noted for its expressive artwork and breathtaking experiments in content and form.

Smile: the Comics of Raina Telgemeier

Celebrate the comics of San Francisco native Raina Telgemeier in this exhibition including her highly popular autobiographical works Smile and Sisters, her award-winning graphic novels Dramaand Ghosts, and her acclaimed adaptations of Ann M. Martin’s The Baby-Sitter’s Clubseries.

The Cartoon Art Museum, Top Shelf Productions and IDW Publishing proudly present MARCH, an exhibition of original artwork from the acclaimed graphic novel trilogy written by Congressman John Lewis and Andrew Aydin and illustrated by Nate Powell.
Discover the inside story of the Civil Rights Movement through the eyes of one of its most iconic figures, Congressman John Lewis, as artist Nate Powell chronicles Lewis’s journey from Troy, Alabama to Washington, D.C. The MARCH graphic novel trilogy, co-written by Andrew Aydin, received the 2016 National Book Award for Young People’s Literature, was the first graphic novel to win a Robert F. Kennedy Award, has won multiple Will Eisner Comics Industry Awards, and has been a staple of the New York Times and Washington Post bestseller lists.
