L’oramai consueta strategia del rifacimento (remake) comincia a stufare anche nel cinema? Se lo chiede il critico Owen Gleiberman, analizzando la situazione dal punto di vista statunitense (ma, come sappiamo, la faccenda è ormai planetaria). Fino a che punto ha senso rifare quel che è già stato fatto? E’ una scelta di comodo per cavalcare senza troppa fatica la naturale nostalgia di ciò ci era piaciuto in passato? Quante volte il nuovo prodotto è migliore del precedente? E’ opportuno ragionarci su per bene. O sarebbe ora di darsi una calmata e smetterla?

The rap on rebooting, at least from critics like myself, is that it replaces the essential act of imagination with something else: nostalgia, sameness, the comfort of what we know. The hunger for what’s familiar can be powerful; in fact, that’s one of the definitions of addiction — craving the same thing, over and over. But it will now ultimately be up to audiences, not studio executives, to decide whether something not-so-old made new again is really, truly new…
