“Dear Friends,

With your kind cooperation, we are very pleased to announce that the 16th International Animation Festival in Japan – HIROSHIMA 2016 will be held from August 18th to 22nd next summer.

Last year, we were pleased to hold our 15th festival, which was our special edition, commemorating the 30th anniversary of the establishment of our festival office in 1984. I would like to extend our sincere appreciation, once again, to all of you for attending our festival from home and from various countries of north and south, and for offering your warm and reassuring words of congratulations.

Together with you, we intend to hold Hiroshima Festival continuously aiming our future, while spreading and unfolding the spirit of “LOVE & PEACE”, pursuing perpetual world peace, by promoting international cross-cultural exchanges through the development of animation art culture.

Encouraged by your felicitations, we, the festival team, are working hard for the preparation of our next and the 16th edition, to realize another successful manifestation worthy of our new step forward.
Looking forward to your entries and to your participation in HIROSHIMA 2016 !

It has been our great pleasure to continue and unfold our manifestation ceaselessly for 30 years — as much as a quarter of the history of animation art.
With this milestone, we would like to embark on a new journey. As a place pursuing everlasting world peace through the promotion of animation art and culture, we would like to make all our efforts to reach another milestone of 40 years, 50 years and more.

This year marks the 70th anniversary of the end of World War II. We have to continue making every effort not to forget the tragic memories of the world war which caused us immense damage. To my regret, conflict, warfare and terrorism are occurring frequently in our world.
Under such situation, we believe that the creativity of animation as well as the promotion of cross- cultural exchange through the development of animation art culture will serve as a great power to construct the real world peace. In this belief, we would like to contribute ourselves continuously for the development of animation, an art culture of rich humanity.

We are working hard for the preparation of our next edition, the 16th International Animation Festival in Japan – HIROSHIMA 2016, steadily, step by step.
Our new regulations and entry form will be ready this autumn.

Looking forward to receiving your entries to HIROSHIMA 2016, and hope to welcome you in Hiroshima in August 2016 !!”
