This event is FREE and open for the public.The Cartoon Art Museum hosts artist Melissa Pagluica for a Toon Talk and Reception for her new book, Above the Clouds. Beginning as a cover artist and web cartoonist, Above the Clouds is her first published graphic novel. Join us for a presentation followed by a reception with the artist.

Batman: The Definitive History of The Dark Knight, Book Release and Signing

This event is FREE and open for the public.The Cartoon Art Museum welcomes author Andrew Farago as he signs and sketches copies of the newly-updated edition of Batman: The Definitive History of The Dark Knight in Comics, Film, and Beyond. The book signing takes place in The Keane Family Lobby and will be open to the public.

The Cartoon Art Museum proudly presents YAY Comics! Hilo, Phoebe and Her Unicorn, and Friends, an exhibition of original artwork from four innovative talents who are creating some of the most popular and entertaining comics for young readers today. From school libraries and playgrounds to comic shops to bookstores, these graphic novels including Hilo, Phoebe and Her Unicorn, Jukebox, and Amelia Erroway: Castaway Commander bring joy and delight to young audiences and readers of all ages with their humor and their innovative storytelling.

I Left my Art in San Francisco

The Cartoon Art Museum presents highlights from the permanent collection, with a selection of artwork that highlight some of our favorite San Francisco landmarks. Less than half a century after the fabled Gold Rush, San Francisco’s thriving economy and growing population established the City by the Bay as a vibrant artistic and literary hub, as a host of talented creators and publishers made their home in the Bay Area.

Emerging Artist Showcase: Melissa Pagluica

The Cartoon Art Museum presents the art of Melissa Pagluica in the latest installment of its ongoing Emerging Artist Showcase. This exhibit features a selection of Pagluica’s favorite pages from her debut graphic novel Above the Clouds.Melissa Pagluica is a full time artist residing in Oakland, California. She has worked as a cover artist for publishers such as Boom! Studios and Vault Comics and as a freelance illustrator. She is best known for her webcomic Above the Clouds which she self-published in a complete hardcover edition through Kickstarter in 2022. Her current project, Monster Heart, can be read on Webtoon Canvas.

A Treasury of Animation

From the earliest hand-drawn cartoons to today’s blockbuster CGI films, all animation begins with an artist and an idea, A Treasury of Animation showcases original production art following the evolution of animation from the 1920s onward from the Cartoon Art Museum’s permanent collection.

A display of Batman movie costumes and props courtesy of Allan Lavigne of The Bronze Armory.

View replicas of the batsuit worn by Michael Keaton in 1989’s Batman; the Val Kilmer Panther Batman and Sonar Batman suits; the George Clooney Batman; Christian Bale’s Batman from The Dark Knight; and the Ben Affleck Bat Armor from Batman vs. Superman. Numerous replica hand props and weapons from all the films and some from the 1960s TV show starring Adam West will also be on hand.
