In the 1970s he began publishing comics in “Corriere dei Piccoli”, using the pen name Igor Artz Bajeff (from his grandmother’s Yugoslavian family name).

Among his features are the 1940s adventure series ‘Air Mail’ in “Orient Express” (1983–1984) and the science fiction series ‘Roy Mann’ with writer Tiziano Sclavi, in “Comic Art” (1987–1991).

www.afnews.info segnala: Dik Browne (11 August 1917 – 4 June 1989, USA) was a popular comics creator, best known for his comic strips.

In 1954, he and cartoonist Mort Walker co-created ‘Hi and Lois’. It was a spin-off from Walker’s popular ‘Beetle Bailey’ strip, featuring Beetle’s sister and her family life.

Walker wrote the strip, which Browne illustrated until his death. The series is now drawn by Browne’s son Chance and written by Walker’s sons.

During the 1950s, he created many painted covers to the “Classics Illustrated Junior” line of comics.

In 1973, he created ‘Hägar the Horrible’ about an ill-mannered red-bearded medieval viking. The popular strip has been widely available in mass-market books and is produced today by his son Chris.

Browne received a National Cartoonists Society award for best strip of the year six times from 1959 to 1986.

He received their Reuben Award for outstanding cartoonist twice, in 1962 and 1973, and their Elzie Segar Award in 1973.
