Animayo, eleven years of HISTORY
This european event born in Gran Canaria (Spain), with a decade of international expansion, has positioned itself as one of the major events for creativity, talent and professional development within the industry of animation, visual effects and video games.
The International Film Festival of Animation, Visual Effects and Video Games Animayo, remains active in the audiovisual sector wherever it goes. With events in countries such Spain, US, Uruguay, Italia, the Netherlands and Portugal, the Festival receives each year more than 1500 works to the competition which 100 of them will be pre-selected and screened to the public during the Festival and all its itinerants.
During the events, Animayo cites again year after year the vips of animation and visual effects of the film mecca. From the hand of its director and producer, Damián Perea, the Animayo Festival has been transformed into a new concept of Festival-University, a concept that merges audiovisual area with training at the highest level.
The numbers in these ten years speak for themselves. Animayo has reached more than 35,000 students from primary and secondary school, 25,000 vocational students and academics, 297 professors, 15,000 adults fans and 5,000 industry professionals. The Festival has advanced so much its career within the field of training which has created its own educational system called ANIMAYO TRAINING SYSTEM which is an initiative of didactic training for primary schools and secondary schools, colleges and training schools, having the audiovisual language as one of the most important educational resources today. In 2015, the Animayo training system settles without doubt as one of the most important aspects of the itinerancy of the Festival.
There have been many great professionals in the industry who have trod the stage of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria in the last ten years to make the festival an unique event that encourages creativity, talent and professional development within the film industry animation, visual effects and video games. Cinzia Angelini, MILA’s director, will be not only a member of both International Juries for the Official Selection Contests, but also protagonist of two days’ great masterclass events!
