Dal nostro corrispondente: Grazie al Museo dei Fumetti di New York City, un altro festival è stato realizzato nel weekend scorso. Centinaia di creatori e professionisti dei fumetti hanno incontrato migliaia di lettori, facendo non solo affari, ma anche amicizie. Gli spazi maggiori erano quelli del museo stesso, di Fantagraphics e di Top Shelf. Anche se la maggior parte dei partecipanti erano Statunitensi, creatori da Svezia e Finlandia erano presenti, e anche fumetti turchi come Zombistan e L’uomo con l’orso sono stati presentati al pubblico. Tra i visitatori, era possibile incontrare giornalisti come l’Italiana Caterina Grimaldi. Lo spirito del festival ha promosso con forza cretivita’ ed sperimentazione. Libri come il primo numero del nuovo collezione di Prince Valiant (Fantagraphics) hanno venduto tutte le copie disponibili allo stand. Museum of Comic and Cartoon Art’s latest edition of the MoCCA Art Fest took place in a historic military building on Lexington Avenue, New York City, last week. Hundreds of comic book creators and publishers met with thousands of fans during the two days, while establishing friendships among each other. The biggest booths were those of the museum, Fantagraphics and Top Shelf. Though almost all of the present publishers were US-based, more than a few northern European creators attracted attention, also thanks to Top Shelf’s new line of Swedish comics… Turkish graphic novels like Zombistan and The Bear Rider were introduced to American readers as well. Meanwhile, foreign visitors included an Italian journalist, Caterina Grimaldi… The festival was strong in its spirit for promoting experimental work, encouraging independent publishers and creating a visual variety thanks to the presence of various promotions, costumes, posters and gadgets. Such items like Fantagraphics’ first hardcover reprint volume of Prince Valiant were sold out at the booths.
