COMUNICATO N°1

 Per il secondo anno il festival internazionale EuropaCinema & TV, che si svolgerà a Viareggio dal 27 novembre al 3 dicembre, comprende il concorso di corti di animazione. Una selezione di 15 film animati in competizione, provenienti da diversi paesi europei e mai proiettati finora in Italia, saranno programmati durante la settimana del festival a precedere i lungometraggi del concorso opere prime al Cinema Eden. La giuria è altamente qualificata e si compone di: Rastko Ciric (Jugoslavia), Enzo D’Alò (Italia), Marjut Rimminen (Finlandia), Sergio Staino (Italia), Georges Wolinski (Francia). La premiazione avrà luogo venerdì 3 dicembre alle 20.30 e durante la serata saranno presentate diversi filmati e novità.

La Giuria - The Jury

Enzo D'Alò (Napoli, 1953). Vive a Torino dove nel 1979 diviene operatore permanente del laboratorio cinematografico "La Lanterna Magica", che 4 anni dopo sarà società di produzione, lavorando con adulti e bambini di diverse età nella sperimentazione audiovisuale. Ha ricoperto cariche nell'A.S.I.F.A. (Association International Film d'Animation) e nella commissione ministeriale "film per bambini”. Ha realizzato video e film animati di informazione e didattica, documentari, serie e special TV quali Kamillo Kromo (1990,1993) e Le nuove avventure di Pimpa (1995), video musicali (900 di Paolo Conte del 1992) e i lungometraggi La freccia azzurra (1996) e La Gabbianella e il gatto (1998).

Enzo D'Alò (Naples, 1953). He lives in Turin where in 1979 he becomes steady operator of the film lab "La Lanterna Magica", that 4 years later will turn into a production company, working at audiovisual experimentation with adults and children of all ages. He has held offices in A.S.I.F.A. (Association International Film d'Animation) and in the ministry commission “films for children”. He has made videos and educational animated films, documentaries, TV series and specials as Kamillo Kromo (1990,1993) e The new adventures of Pimpa (1995), musical videoclips (900 by Paolo Conte, 1992) and the features The Blue arrow (1996) and Lucky and Zorba (1998).

Rastko Ciric (Belgrado, 1955). Ha un diploma in arti grafiche e un master in illustrazione e animazione della Facoltà di Arti Applicate di Belgrado. Il suo primo film di 6 minuti è The Circus Depart (1982), seguito da altre creazioni. E’ membro dell’Asifa yugoslava, di Ulupuds (l’associazione serba di arte grafica) and co-fondatore dello Studio Avala Animation di Belgrado. E’ attivo anche in campo musicale con il Rubber Soul Project e il Target Project. Dal 1991 insegna presso l’università dove è stato studente. L’anno scorso ha partecipato alla selezione di corti animati di EuropaCinema & TV con Invisible and Poorly Visible Animal Species.

Rastko Ciric (Belgrade, 1955). He has got a degree in graphic art and a master in illustration and animation from the Faculty of Applied Arts in Belgrade. His first 6 minute film was The Circus Depart (1982), followed by other creations. He is member of Asifa in Yugoslavia, Ulupuds (the Serbian association of graphic art) and co-founder of the Avala Animation Studio in Belgrade. He also applies to the musical field with the Rubber Soul Project and Target Project. Since 1991 he has been teaching at the university where he was a student. Last year he took part in the EuropaCinema & TV animated shorts selection with Invisible and Poorly Visible Animal Species.

Marjut Rimminen (Finland, 1944). Si è diplomata alla Helsinki College di Arte Applicata nel 1968, dopo di che ha realizzato la sua prima pubblicità animata per il bagnoschiuma Vivante. Censurata dalla televisione finlandese, lo spot fu infine trasmesso dopo essere stato premiato quale migliore spot dell’anno al Festival di Zagabria del 1972. Il mese seguente fu invitata ad unirsi alla Halas & Batchelor Animation a Londra. Dal 1974 lavora indipendentemente a Londra, realizzando pubblicità animate, sequenze per programmi televisivi e film premiati quali Many happy returns (1996). E’ stata in giuria di diversi festival e ha insegnato animazione in Inghilterra e in Finlandia.

Marjut Rimminen (Finland, 1944). She graduated from the Helsinki College of Applied Art in 1968, after which she made her first animated commercial for Vivante bubble bath. Banned from Finnish television, the ad was finally broadcast after winning Best Commercial for the Year at the 1972 Zagreb Festival. The following month Rimminen was invited to join Halas & Batchelor Animation in London. Since 1974 she has worked independently in London, producing animated commercials, sequences for television programs and award-winning films such as Many happy returns (1996). She has been a juror at many festivals and has taught animation in England and Finland.

Georges Wolinski (Tunisi, 1934). Cartoonist fondamentale nel fumetto e nella satira francese, nel 1960 entra nel giornale Hara-Kiri dove collabora fino alla sua chiusura nel 1982. Capo-redattore di Charlie Mensuel dal 1970 al 1980, collabora a Charlie Hebdo, L’Humanité (1974-1981), Le Nouvel Observateur (1984-1990), Libération, Paris Match, Le Journal du Dimanche, Echo des Savanes. E’ sceneggiatore dei film Le roi des cons, Aldo et Junior, Le Cow-boy, Le pizzaiolo, Elles ne pensent qu’à ça. Ha lavorato per il teatro con Je ne veux pas mourir idiot, Je ne pense qu’à ça, Le roi des cons. Anche l’anno scorso era in giuria per i corti animati di EuropaCinema & TV.

Georges Wolinski (Tunisi, 1934). Important cartoonist of French comics and satire, in 1960 he enters the magazine Hara-Kiri where he contributes until its closing in 1982. Chief editor of Charlie Mensuel from 1970 to 1980, he contributes to Charlie Hebdo, L’Humanité (1974-1981), Le Nouvel Observateur (1984-1990), Libération, Paris Match, Le Journal du Dimanche, Echo des Savanes. He has scripted the films Le roi des cons, Aldo et Junior, Le Cow-boy, Le pizzaiolo, Elles ne pensent qu’à ça. He has worked for the theatre in Je ne veux pas mourir idiot, Je ne pense qu’à ça, Le roi des cons. Also last year he was jury member of the animated shorts section of EuropaCinema & TV.

Sergio Staino (Piancastagnaio-Siena,1940). Si laurea in architettura ma si dedica soprattutto al disegno satirico. Nel 1979 crea il suo personaggio più noto, Bobo, che pubblicato sul mensile Linus e sul quotidiano l’Unità riscuote un grande successo. Nel 1986 fonda e dirige il settimanale satirico Tango. Nel 1988 realizza il lungometraggio Cavalli si nasce. Nel 1992 gira un altro film, Non chiamatemi Omar. I suoi fumetti sono tradotti e pubblicati in diversi paesi europei. E’ direttore artistico del Teatro Puccini di Firenze. Per la prima volta collaborerà alla realizzazione di un carro per la prossima edizione del carnevale di Viareggio.

Sergio Staino (Piancastagnaio-Siena,1940). He graduates in architecture but applies mainly to satirical cartooning. In 1979 he creates his most famous character, Bobo, that published in the monthly Linus and in the daily l’Unità proves to be very successful. In 1986 he founds and edits the satirical weekly Tango. In 1988 he directs the feature film Cavalli si nasce. In 1992 he shoots another film, Non chiamatemi Omar. His strips are translated and published in several European countries. He is artistic director at the Puccini Theatre in Florence. For the first time he will contribute in the making of an allegorical float for the next edition of the carnival of Viareggio.
